MOVING PAST ABUSE AND TRAUMA

The words abuse and trauma have numerous definitions and mean different things to different people.  In my practice, I use these words to describe any experience in which someone has felt in fear of their life or has been violated by another individual.  You may be wondering if this could be describing you or you may have never thought about yourself as worthy of more. So many people have difficulty in allowing themselves to acknowledge that what happened to them was not right or that they are able to rise above.  If you have ever experienced any of the following or similar, than know that YES you DO deserve better...

There is a significant level of self-blame that too frequently happens to those that have experienced abuse or trauma and as a result you often begin to feel that maybe "it wasn't that bad" or "I deserved it".  These are the thoughts that allow the cycles of abuse to continue and can become identifiesr of who you are.  I want you to know that it doesn't have to be that way.  You can overcome the past or move on from your current situation and change how you and others view you.  My goal is for you to leave counseling feeling...
